It's Time, The Lord is Hastening His Work

I'm excited to learn Portuguese!
Welcome to my mission blog! Here, you can keep updated on how I am doing in Brazil.

I can't believe the time has come for me to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Serving a mission has been a goal of mine since Primary age. And since that age, every choice I ever made has counted in helping me stay worthy and become converted to this gospel.

Well, at 23-years-old, I guess I could be considered an older-ish missionary. But with the announcement this weekend that men can now serve at age 18, and women can now serve at age 19, it has further fed my excitement to serve the Lord. In the press conference following the announcement, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland said that the reason for this change is that "the Lord is hastening His work."

He truly is. I can testify to that. I felt that when my visa came through super early. You can read about that here.

Though I am leaving the pursuit of worldly career success, I have been given the opportunity for a much greater full-time work as a representative of the Lord, Jesus Christ. I know that every experience, every trial, and every blessing has led me to this very moment in time. I know this is what I need to be doing, and I am going where the Lord needs me.

I know the Lord knows me. I know where I came from. I know why I am on this earth. And I know where I am going when the time comes for me to leave this earth.

I know that my family is forever, and it extends beyond the grave. I know that it is by the power of the priesthood and in the holy temples that these covenants are made. And those covenants are kept each day, in every choice.

I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and he restored the gospel on this earth. And through that same revelatory power, President Thomas S. Monson leads and guides the Lord's church today.

The scriptures are true, and in them you can find peace and guidance in every question and trial you have. By living their teachings you can find true and lasting joy. I have found that joy and that truth. And I am excited to go out and help others find that joy and discover that truth.

God be with you till we meet again.

I love you.

Love always,

Sister Villaroman
